Daughter of a Lost Bird
/Daughter of a Lost Bird is a documentary that beautifully tells the journey of Kendra Mylnechuk Potter, a Native American transracial adoptee raised by white adoptive parents. Kendra grew up with no knowledge of her Native parentage, and her journey includes a reunion with her Lummi community—a Native American tribe based in Washington state.
Kendra joined us on episode 213 of the Adoptees On podcast where she shared her powerful adoption and reunion story. She spoke about the issues she faced while claiming her cultural heritage, as well as what it was like to reunite with her biological mother, family, and community as part of filming a documentary.
